The PCC 2020 Annual Election began on May 1. Electronic voting closed at 5 p.m. PDT on May 12. Voting was officially closed at the Annual Members’ Meeting and it was announced that a record 3,657 members voted resulting in the election of two new Trustees, Megan Karch and Paul Davis, as well as one incumbent Trustee, Ben Klasky, each for a three-year term (see biographies in related story). The Board said goodbye and thanked Stephen Tan and Bruce Williams for their years of service.

The PCC Board of Trustees met on May 14, 2020 for its first ever virtual Board Meeting. Each of the committees held a quarterly (Q2) meeting followed by a full Board meeting. Highlights include:

  • Governance and Membership Committee reviewed and discussed the current Board experience matrix and member feedback on Board nominations to be used in selecting future Board nominees.
  • Audit and Finance Committee reviewed Q1 financials and were provided a thorough update on PCC’s new membership program by VP of Marketing Heather Snavely.
  • Management Development and Compensation Committee discussed its annual workplan.
  • The Board heard an update from each committee on 2020 initiatives. VP of Finance, Krish Srinivasan, provided a report on the co-op’s financial health. VP of Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER), Brenna Davis, provided a report on how PCC is focusing its SER efforts during the pandemic on the most immediate needs in the community—the taxed emergency food system and keeping local organic producers afloat. The Board was also provided a review and Q&A of managing through the pandemic on store operations from VP Jennifer Beus, human resources from VP Dana Montanari, and membership from VP Heather Snavely.
