It’s election season, so what better way to get swept up in the excitement than with … broccoli? Whether you commiserate with Presidents Bush (both W. and H.W.), who publically denounced the crucifer and declared they wouldn’t eat it, or side with President Obama, who’s on the record naming it his "favorite food," we urge you to put politics aside and revel in the crunchy, nutritious crop in our stores now. It’s a seasonal treat from local farmers for just a short while — sweeter and less bitter than at other times of year — so we’re eating it at all meals: tucking it into breakfast quiche, in salads for lunch, and in hearty stir-fries for dinner. We’ve selected a few of our favorite recipes here. Broccoli’s a winner!
