Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons sunflower oil
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 3/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- Pinch of ground cloves
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 3 cups water
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons tamari
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
Directions
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring frequently, until fragrant, 1 to 3 minutes. Add chili powder, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, allspice and cloves; cook an additional 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant.
Add remaining ingredients and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
