PCC Food Bank Program

2013 results & 2014 expansion

Every time you reuse a bag at PCC, a five cent donation is made, which is divided equally between the PCC Food Bank Program and PCC Farmland Trust.

Between this no-fuss donation and additional customer donations, we collected an impressive $137,386.30 for our partner food banks in 2013. PCC was recently awarded a Community Outreach Award from the Food Marketing Institute, which includes a $1,000 donation to the program.

These funds go toward our purchases of bulk foods at wholesale prices: This year, that program purchased almost 72,000 pounds of healthy pantry staples like beans, raisins, granola, soup mix and lentils. The food is repackaged into family-sized portions at volunteer work parties that are scheduled every other month for each of the food banks we partner with.

For 2014, we’re pleased to announce a new food bank partner: North Helpline Food Bank, also known as the Lake City Food Bank. This brings the number of food banks we partner with to 11. To learn more about our program or to find the calendar of repackaging parties, visit our foodbank page.
