As the school year commences and the calendar fills up, simple, ready-to-go snacks can be essential when putting together your child’s lunch. We asked our grocery staff to select their favorites for lunchbox fare that would excite your little ones while still providing nutrition. Here are a few of their recommendations. These items also are good choices when you need to bring healthier snacks into your child’s classroom.

Go nutty, get fruity

Nosh on delicious roasted tamari almonds and sunflower seeds, raisins, cashews and more in SunRidge Farms Hit the Trail Mix. Or gobble up rainbow drops, raisins, peanuts and peanut buttery chocolate in their Mountain Rainbow Mix. Yogurt Raisins combine melt-in-your-mouth yogurt and plump raisins, while their Organic Sunny Bears supply soft and chewy fruit flavors, free of gelatin.

Grab your grains

Annie’s Organic PB & J Granola Bars deliver good ol’ peanut butter and jelly, paired with toasted oats and brown rice. Get an oh-so-soft bar, free of nuts, dairy or eggs in Cascadian Farm Organic Oatmeal Raisin Kid-sized Bars.

Savor salty or sweet

Discover whole grain biscuits poised for dipping in finger lickin’ real fruit with Giddy Dip’ems in strawberry and grape. Crunchy nuggets filled with sunflower and sesame seeds pack a whopping 6 grams of protein in Somersaults Pacific Sea Salt. Or enjoy a crispy, low-calorie treat of Korean seaweed, seasoned sesame oil and salt in Annie Chun’s Sesame Seaweed Snacks.

Quench your thirst

Organic Valley provides the same nourishing Organic Lowfat Milk you know and love in 8-ounce single-serve packaging that doesn’t require refrigeration. Or switch it up with a non-dairy Pacific Organic Almond Beverage in kid-approved Vanilla or low-fat Chocolate single serve 4-packs. Toss them into the freezer the night before to ensure they stay chilled the next day.
