- 6 cups hot water
- 4 (1-inch) ginger pieces, peeled and smashed
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup lime juice, from 3 to 4 limes
- 2 limes, sliced, for garnish
- 4 cups ice cubes
Bring water to a boil in a saucepan set over medium-high heat.
Add ginger and reduce temperature to medium. Boil for 15 minutes. Remove ginger pieces and stir in sugar; stir until dissolved. Let cool to room temperature, then stir in lime juice.
Place sliced limes in a pitcher. Add ice cubes, and then pour in limeade. Serve chilled.
