Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups sliced, hulled strawberries (about 16 ounces)
  • 3 tablespoons agave nectar (see note)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Directions

Toss all ingredients in a bowl and mash lightly to bring out the juices. Let stand at room temperature for about 2 hours, until juices are plentiful and berries have absorbed some of the vinegar. Serve at room temperature.

Special notes:

1/4 cup sugar can be used in place of agave; it will slowly dissolve as the berries sit at room temperature.
