Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup minced garlic
- 1/4 bunch Italian parsley, chopped
- 1/4 bunch fresh basil, chopped
- 6 1/2 pounds tomatoes, crushed
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
Directions
Heat oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and sauté until soft, about 8 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Puree with a blender.
