Ingredients

  • 25 drops holy basil (Tulsi) essential oil
  • 35 drops blood orange essential oil
  • 5 drops clary sage or frankincense essential oil (optional)
  • ½ cup Booda Butter
  • 1⁄8 cup calendula oil
  • ¼ cup avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon chamomile liquid extract

Directions

Blend essential oils in a wooden or glass bowl.

Spoon in Booda Butter and carefully stir into essential oils.

Add avocado and calendula oils and combine gently. Be sure to create a smooth concoction without lumps. It will begin to have the texture of a luscious icing.

Add chamomile extract. Continue stirring until light and fluffy. A whisk will help aerate the mixture. Hand mixing works best for small batches like this.

Put in small glass jars.

Enjoy often, as your handmade crème contains no preservatives. Refrigeration may offer some protections against oxidation. Do not store in the bathroom.

Marilyn Walls, a former Bastyr University teacher, was a PCC staff member for many years, creating healthy recipes and sharing her knowledge about vitamins, supplements, herbs and essential oils. She currently teaches PCC cooking classes, such as her winter class on aging gracefully. Walls says that “a small dollop of this luxurious crème absorbs deeply to calm dry or irritated skin.”
