Washington Artisan Cheesemakers Festival

The Washington Artisan Cheesemakers Festival is a premier cheese festival that celebrates artisan and farmstead cheeses made in Washington. The festival is a benefit for the Washington State Cheesemakers Association. More than 20 Washington cheesemakers plus local breweries, wineries and other artisan producers will show their wares. Women of Wonder Run

Cycle the WAVE

Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere) is a fully supported, non-competitive, deluxe all-women’s event celebrating its 10th anniversary! It’s a spectacular bike and walk event for women of all ages and fitness levels to experience camaraderie, increase awareness of domestic violence through visibility, and raise funds for domestic violence programs across Washington state.

Green Plate Special Garden Gala

Registration for fall quarter 2017 opens September 5! Holiday prep is a breeze with classes such as Roasting Rules, It’s All About the Sides, and Easy and Elegant Appetizers. Kids experience hands-on baking with holiday cookies (more classes offered every year) and, as always, you can find a wonderful array of international cuisines, single-topic workshops and classes with beer, wine and even sake pairings.

The dirt cure

What I have learned is that ultimately, it all begins with dirt. Dirt means exposure to microbes, eating fresh food from healthy soil, and spending time in nature...If you feel wonderful when you're gardening or hiking, it may be in part because Mycobacterium vaccae, a soil microbe that enters your body through your nasal tract or small cuts in your skin, boosts serotonin to levels similar to those from antidepressant medications, such as Prozac.
