  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup basil leaves, plus additional for garnish
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup crushed strawberries
  • Ice
  • 1 cup ginger ale


Combine water, sugar and basil in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.

Remove from the heat and steep for 20 minutes; strain. Basil simple syrup can be refrigerated for up to one week.

Stir together lemon juice, strawberries and 1/2 cup basil simple syrup in a large pitcher; fill with ice.

Top off with ginger ale, adding more simple syrup if desired to increase sweetness. Garnish with basil leaves.
