Treat your taste buds to the incomparable flavor of local, handcrafted, Northwest cheese. You’ll find a broad selection in our deli, from local favorites to discoveries from up-and-coming artisanal cheesemakers.
Crumbly or creamy, mellow or robust, there’s sure to be a cheese to please at dinnertime or for your next picnic, potluck or party. And while you’re at it, be sure to explore our beer and wine department for local brews and vintages from area wineries.
Local ingredients, global inspiration
At PCC you’ll find cheese made from a variety of milks, all free of added hormones. Learn more about our dairy standards. Many of our producers raise their own herds of cows, goats and sheep for milking — such attention to detail makes for high-quality dairy goodness.
- Appel Farms — Try this Ferndale, Wash. creamery’s smooth, buttery Gouda, which is great paired with apples or pears.
- Beecher’s Handmade Cheese (Seattle) — Don’t miss the Flagship Cheddar, a semi-hard cheese with a uniquely robust, nutty flavor. It’s carefully aged for one year to fully develop its complex flavor and ever-so-slight crumble.
- Mt. Townsend Creamery — Look for Cirrus (their Pacific Northwest Camembert), Seastack (a creamy, soft-ripened cheese with layers of subtle flavor) and Campfire (a creamy, lightly smoked jack-style cheese) from this Port Townsend-based cheesemaker.
- Samish Bay Cheese — Locally produced in Bow, Wash., this farmstead cheese is organic, made from the milk of Samish Bay’s herd. Look for their gouda and feta.
- Tieton Farm and Creamery — Savor fresh chÃ¨vre from this Yakima Valley creamery, or try their washed rind Rheba or Tango, an aged raw milk cheese with a wine-washed rind. Learn more about Tieton: watch the video or read the profile.
- Cascadia Farms — Raw, organic cheese crafted in the foothills of Mt Adams in Trout Lake, Wash. Try their Sleeping Beauty; it’s smooth and buttery with a supple sharpness and a unique natural rind that reflects the changes of the seasons.
