Description

Known for their eclectic, affordable menus that range from Cantonese to Hong Kong-style Western cuisines, Hong Kong cafés represent a unique culinary culture of the city. Elaine will show you how to make one of the most popular breakfast dishes – Hong Kong French Toast. Not your typical Western French toast, this delectable treat is made of bread filled with Kaya (Coconut Jam), which Elaine will make from scratch. The toast is then dipped in a special egg mixture and pan-fried until golden, and served with butter and golden syrup. Who says breakfast can’t also be dessert?

Vegetarian with dairy, eggs and gluten.

About the instructor: Elaine was born and raised in Hong Kong, and grew up with authentic Chinese and pan-Asian food. She has lived in Canada and the U.S. for 30 years and has traveled to 50 countries. Elaine left the corporate world after 20 years to focus on her passion for home-style cooking. She is the founder of Dash of Soy, a local Seattle culinary school that focuses on sharing her love for simple, delicious and healthy home cooking inspired by her family and all her travels.
