Description
Ages 12 to 16 Become a better baker this summer with Chef Zola and learn techniques in the art of baking. Throughout the week, students will master quick breads and cakes, learn how to make flaky scones and biscuits, and explore the nuances of yeast breads. The class progresses systematically, allowing students to build upon their skills each day. By focusing on techniques such as dough handling, mixing methods, proper baking temperatures, and pastry preparation, participants will develop the confidence and proficiency needed to create a wide range of baked goods. By combining hands-on experience with expert guidance, participants develop the knowledge needed to tackle various baking challenges with creativity and flair.

About the instructor: Zola Gregory is a local food writer, recipe developer and former pastry chef. She writes a bi-weekly recipe column for the online magazine, TASTE, and her work has also appeared in Food52 and Bon Appetit. Zola’s classes are centered around supporting the home cook and emphasize getting comfortable in the kitchen through technique, a little bit of food science, and, most importantly, a sense of humor.
