Hear about what Krish is looking forward to this spring and beyond
2025 News
Dear Co-op Member-Owner,
While I have always appreciated the Pacific Northwest’s relatively mild winters, it is nevertheless refreshing to embrace spring, with its longer days, crisp air and seasonal produce. I hope you are all feeling the same!
Last year, amid financial challenges in an uncertain economic environment, we asked for your support by inviting you to shop your neighborhood co-op more often — and now, I want to thank you so much for hearing that call, and for responding!
While PCC remains on a multiyear journey aimed at returning the co-op to sustained profitability and financial health, we made a lot of progress in 2024 in great part due to the increased patronage of members like you. We will have more to share about this journey in our annual Co-op Purpose Report, set to be published in May.
Our active membership now stands at more than 118,000, up nearly 2% from a year ago. Many of you have shared that our member-only offers are among your most valued benefits of membership at PCC. These carefully curated offers, which have included a free pound of organic strawberries, a free pint of organic blueberries, and $5 off a $15 purchase, provided members with up to $180 in savings throughout 2024.
We expect to have a similar set of exciting member-only offers again this year, and I hope you are all looking forward to them. And of course, every engagement with your neighborhood co-op helps strengthen local food systems, a key commitment that is enshrined in PCC’s mission, and one that we are proud to steward with your collective support.
Looking ahead, we could not be more energized about our new store opening in Downtown Seattle, a refreshed culinary education program, the expansion of our PCC branded product line, and much more. As always, you can count on us to remain focused on offering responsibly sourced products, driving transparency around food prices in a volatile economic and political climate, and being a great employer — in other words, creating real and meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
If you’re looking for ways to get involved or act, here are a couple of opportunities to help shape our co-op and community:
- Learn more about becoming an official community sponsor of the Growing For Good program that provides direct support to local farms and food banks.
- Watch your inbox on April 11 for information about PCC’s Board of Trustees election including introductions to this year’s candidates and your invitation to vote. Voting takes only a minute but is an important part of assuring that your voice is represented in our co-op’s governance and leadership.
There’s never been a more important time for our co-op to do what it does. You choose us because eating well is inextricable from the social and environmental impacts of the food we consume. I thank you for your trust and support.
With gratitude,
Krish Srinivasan
CEO and President
