Support for Washington State Soil Health Initiative

PCC submitted a letter to the Washington State Senate Agriculture, Water, Natural Resources and Parks Committee in support of the Soil Health Initiative.

The Soil Health Initiative is a collaborative program between the Washington State Department of Agriculture, Washington State Conservation Commission, and Washington State University to support research, education, and demonstrations in agricultural practices that enhance soil health. Improved soil health is key to ensuring long-term viability of a robust food system in Washington State and is critical to restoring ecosystems that mitigate the effects of climate change in the region.

Because climate change and supporting resilient and local food systems remain priorities for PCC, we strongly endorsed the initiative and its collaborative and science-based approach.
